Culinary Students Compete Virtually

Culinary Arts students at River Bend Career and Technical Center are in the process of competing in the National Restaurant Association’s “ProStart” competition.  Because of Covid-19 restrictions, the culinary teams submit a video recording of their efforts.  Each team, made up of four students at River Bend, must research, plan and prepare a multi-course meal in an appropriate presentation.  The total preparation time to complete the meal is 40 minutes.  These students are completing a meal that uses lamb that the students had helped butcher earlier this year.  Pictured are Drew Shaw (left, Oxbow High School), Traci Naylor (center, Oxbow High School), while River Bend’s Student Interventionist, Tracy Puffer (right), films each part of the process for submission to the judges. 

21st Century Media Students Learn UVW Mapping

21st Century Media students have been learning the ins and outs of UVW Mapping! UVW Mapping involves taking a 2-d texture image and "mapping" the individual textures onto a 3-d object, or "mesh." Here, you can see 

Thetford Academy student Connor Mazzarella's map over a simple building. The students will be applying these skills to create original objects in a fully-3d environment in the upcoming weeks, which will then expand into game design.
